Taking a Vacation

Well I could write today about how you could use the equity in your home to pay down debts and to use a little for a well earned vacation but I think today I’m going to write just about the simple joys of taking that vacation.

It is important to unwind and reconnect with family, friends or your significant other.  We all work extremely hard for our money and often times we forget just what we are working for. Sometime you need to work to live, not live to work and I know it sounds corny but you just have to take some time to smell the roses. This year for me the hard work and the Covid hurdles were all worth it so I could reconnect with my husband, nature and the feeling of unplugging in beautiful Costa Rica.

This was my husbands and I’s first vacation to Costa Rica alone, we have visited Costa Rica several times before but we always brought our friends or adult children but this time we were on own own and it was fabulous! It felt so strange just relaxing on a beach with no where to rush to and no one to take care of. We spent a lot of time asking each other “Are you OK?” because we normally are catching every attraction or always busy with something while on vacation. This time was just for us and it was strange. Strange but wonderful. From our patio we watched every morning, two beautiful red McCaws fly by to a nearby a wild almond tree while we enjoyed a coffee (best coffee in the world in Costa Rica). We would hang at the palm tree lined beach, snorkel and enjoy lovely traditional meals in small “Sodas” (what they call local small restaurants). We went on hikes in the jungle and found rivers and waterfalls enjoying afternoon swims in them with schools of little fish surrounding you. We never checked our phones, Facebook or laptops we were just in the moment and were enjoying the peace, laughs and love, I am so glad we had this time, the two of us just us together.

Life goes by very fast take time to enjoy it.
